Winner Robo[edit | edit source]

  • Hilux Winner (1988)
    • ID number: W-09
    • Accessories: none
Hilux Winner would have been released in Bandai's Machine Robo: Battle Hackers toyline in 1988, and converted from robot to Toyota Hilux pick-up truck. As a Winner Robo, toy's conversion was semi-automatic - pressing a button on the underside of the vehicle caused it to pop into robot mode; it was also fitted with Hot Wheels-style wheels and could interact with the Roboshooter Gaiden track playset. Despite this it still retained diecast parts and some arm movement. However, the Battle Hackers line was cancelled before the figure could be released.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Hilux Winner is one of the few unreleased Machine Robo toys to have made it as far as a physical prototype and being advertised in a catalogue before being cancelled - and even featured in TV Land. Most other unreleased toys don't seem to have got as far as prototypes; sales of the Winner Robo must really have been terrible for the toy to be pulled at such a late stage. On the plus side at least one of these things exists out there somewhere!
