Dash Robo

The Dash Robo were an assortment of figures in the Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos toyline, released by Bandai in Japan in 1986.

Each figure featured a friction motor that could be used in vehicle mode, with a motorised base that could also move them in robot mode. While the moulds originated in Bandai's Zenmai Kahen Winch Robo line the versions used incorporated the colour schemes used for their release in the GoBots line by Tonka, as the Secret Riders. The only changes were that the American names for the figures were stickered over with new decals bearing the Japanese name. As in literally stickered over; damage to loose examples shows the GoBots markings underneath.

Therefore it seems likely that the Dash Robo were originally produced for GoBots; either they were unsold stock shipped back to Japan rather than remaindered or a second production run rendered surplus by the cancelling of GoBots. This is further supported by the Dash Robo's short shrift in the Machine Robo cartoons - only Battle Gyror appeared in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos.
