Machine Robo Series[edit | edit source]

  • Classic Robo (1984)
    • ID number: MR-44
    • Accessories: none
Classic Robo was the 44th figure in Bandai's Machine Robo Series and transforms from robot to Excalibur Series 3 roadster. He is sturdy as Machine Robo of the time go, but as his front bumper/feet are made of soft plastic they can warp, which usually causes damage to the chrome.
  • The figure was later issued as the GoBots/Robo Machine figure Good Knight, with no significant changes - though the American release omitted the extra sticker sheet, and thus is missing some of the additional vehicle mode details.
  • From 1986 onwards Classic Robo was repackaged on a blister card. The figure itself was unchanged.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • A prototype version of Classic Robo shown in catalogues featured a different conversion, with the front grill of the car moving up to the chest. Presumably this was changed to increase durability.
  • While Classic Robo's name suggests his vehicle mode is a classic car, Excalibur were in fact a low-volume contemporary manufacturer using 1920s Mercedes/Studebaker styling. The Series 3 car was actually first produced in 1975.
