The Renegades take on a hick kid who has a catapult. Guess how that works out.

Billy Jack Jackson lives with his parents in a Louisiana swamp, but when both of them are busy he gets bored and decides to go fishing in his canoe. With no fish biting he decides to land and look for turtles instead - only to blunder into Cy-Kill, Crasher, Cop-Tur and Doctor Braxis, gathered by Thruster. The scientist grabbed Billy Jack and Cy-Kill was about to kill the boy when Heat Seeker arrived. While the Guardian fought bravely he was outnumbered 3 to 1 and was eventually knocked out and captured, though it gave Billy Jack time to escape.

As Billy Jack paddles away he spots a seaplane flying overhead and flags it down for help; however, it turns out to be the Renegade Water Walker, who tries to grab him. However Billy Jack was able to get away thanks to his catapult before hiding in some trees until Water Walker gave up and flew off. He makes it back home but his mother doesn't believe his tale, so the boy decides he will have to rescue Heat Seeker himself.

Kitted with some of his father's fishing gear he travels by backwaters back to where he had seen Thruster and sets up ropes and nets between the trees. After attacking the Renegades with his catapult he leads them towards the traps he has set. Cop-Tur tumbles over a tripwire, allowing Billy Jack to catch them in a shrimping net big and strong enough to hold for Renegades. Billy Jack runs to Thruster and frees Heat Seeker, but the Guardian is too damaged to fly, forcing the pair to wade for it as the Renegades get free - and then Zod appears. Thankfully Leader-1 arrived with the Command Centre, taking the pair onboard and away from the Renegades.

Heat Seeker thanks Billy Jack, who returns home. When his father comes home after a trip for provisions he asks Billy Jack what he's been up to. Billy Jack tells him he has just been fishing, suggesting he has repressed his memories of a traumatic afternoon of parental neglect and near death.
