The Argos was a NASA satellite, at least until the Renegades came along.

Challenge of the GoBots cartoon[edit | edit source]

Astronaut Matt Hunter was assigned to repair Argos in Earth orbit onboard the shuttle Intrepid, along with cadets A.J. Foster and Nick Burns. Despite Matt's unprofessionalism rankling with Doctor Braxis and General Newcastle, the cadets got the job done. However, moments after the pair returned to the ship Thruster appeared out of nowhere and smashed the satellite apart. Thanks to the Renegades' stealth device there was no evidence of the GoBots' involvement, and the trashing of both Argos and Intrepid (after Matt chased after the Renegade ship) was more than enough for NASA to suspend Matt, A.J. and Nick. Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Argos was actually a satellite system in use at the time, though it didn't have dedicated satellites or anything and the name is probably just happenstance rather than a reference.
  • The ARGOS system was launched by the real NASA in 1999, and is totally 100% absolutely named in reference to the satellite seen in Challenge of the GoBots.
